Prohibition mural in Munising

Prohibition mural in downtown Munising, located behind the former Corktown behind – facing Family Dollar.

Signs Now installed the latest mural in Munising on the back of the former Corktown building (facing Family Dollar) last week!

This is a picture of a still bust during Prohibition. The sheriff pictured is Frank Runsat (second from left) along with his two sons, Lawrence and Robert Runsat (right of Frank). Frank was also the one-time owner of Munising Bottling Works and Runsat’s Tavern (ironically). Robert Runsat was my great grandfather!

The mural was designed by Mike Stockwell of Cranking Graphics and was installed and created by Signs Now. Funds for this project came from an Art Place grant and other various grant monies, the Munising Downtown Development Authority, and the Alger County Chamber of Commerce/Greater Munising Bay Partnership.
